Pat Harris Lifetime Achievement Award

In 2022, HAGGL created the Pat Harris Lifetime Achievement Award.  Our first recipient was Beverly Layne.

Pat began her SBA career with City National Bank and was hired by Small Business Loan Source (or SBLS as it was commonly known).  SBLS was one of the leading SBA lenders in Houston during Pat’s time there.  She was presented with an opportunity with Matrix Capital Bank in Denver and, a few years later, returned to Houston and rejoined SBLS.  After SBLS, Pat spent a short period of time with Westbound Bank, followed by almost 15 years with Members Choice Credit Union.  Pat later worked for Icon Bank and, most recently, was with Veritex Bank.

Pat was also an active member of HAGGL, serving on the Board and as President in 2018.

As hard as Pat worked as an SBA professional, she had an unbelievable amount of energy which she spent primarily with family, but she had many outside pursuits as well.

Pat served 14 years on the Merchandise Committee for the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. While serving on the committee, Pat started a toy drive for children that have to spend their Christmas at Texas Children’s Hospital, which is where her family spent almost a year with one of her grandsons.  Recently, the Merchandise Committee named this annual toy drive after Pat to honor her commitment and desire to bring joy to these children.

ELIGIBILITY:

HAGGL members that are Lenders or SBA service providers

CRITERIA FOR THE AWARD:

Active participation in multiple HAGGL events annually

Long-term commitment to SBA lending (20 or more yrs)

Service with distinction (subjective to the nominator, but s/b focused on leadership, mentorship, etc.)
