Scholarships
The Houston Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders (HAGGL) has endowed three scholarships – at the University of Houston, the University of Texas, and Sam Houston State University. These scholarships provide financial assistance to students majoring in finance of a related business major.
HAGGL Scholarship Endowment
In November of 2012, the HAGGL Scholarship Endowment was created in the C.T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston with a gift of $25,000. This scholarship was created to support a student seeking a career in business at the University of Houston.
John H. Runge Endowed Scholarship
In March of 2007, HAGGL created the John H. Runge Endowed Scholarship in the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas in Austin. The scholarship was created with the support of the Runge family, to honor the memory of John H. Runge. John was a long-time Houston SBA Professional, a graduate and former football player at the University of Texas and one of the founders of HAGGL.
HAGGL Endowed Scholarship
In December 2022, the HAGGL Endowed Scholarship was created at Sam Houston State University (SHSU) with a gift of $25,000. This scholarship was created to support SHSU banking and financial institutions majors within the Smith-Hutson Endowed Chair of Banking Program.
